Plum blossom is on the top of the list of the ten most famous flowers in China. Plum blossom, orchids, bamboos and chrysanthemums are called collectively the “Four Gentlemen”, and plum blossom, pines and bamboos are collectively called the "three durable plants of winter”. In Chinese traditional culture, plum blossom, with its noble, resilient and modest character, has motivated many people to work hard and aim high. While the mountain stream is sparkling, and the cold air condenses into a frost mirror on the ground, the plum blossoms are quietly blooming. This is why ancient Chinese poets wrote “At the wall corner mume trees grow; Against the cold they bloom apart. How could we know they are not snow? For fragrance unseen they impart.”
